What is the PTA?We are volunteers dedicated to providing an optimum educational experience in partnership with the parents, staff, and students. Welcome back to Franklin Elementary and a big Falcon welcome to those first time students and families! On behalf of the PTA Board, we are so excited for another great year at Franklin. For those of you unfamiliar with our PTA and what we do throughout the year, we invite you to come to our first meeting on Thursday, September 19th at 7pm. We have meetings for the PTA every two months and these meetings give us a chance to talk about what's happening at school, upcoming events and volunteer opportunities, and discuss our fundraising efforts and ways we're able to give back to the school and our students. And most importantly, we have a lot of fun doing so! Whether you want to volunteer in a big or small way, there are opportunities for everyone. We are fortunate to have some incredible families within our Franklin community and you'll find yourself making many great new friends this year, while giving back to our school. Sunday, August 25th from 11am-12pm. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch if you want to stay longer with your friends! Chalk the Walks starts at 1pm. ![]() Chalk the Walks for the first day of School - Sunday, August 25 All Franklin students and families, help spread some positive cheer on our sidewalks on the playground to get us excited for the first day of school! Chalk will be provided. Sunday, August 25th 1-3pm. ![]() First day of School is Monday, August 26th First day of school for grades 1st through 5th is on Monday, August 26th! You will receive info on what room number your students have to lineup outside on the playground. First bell rings at 8:40 and that is when the students can enter the building! If it is raining, students can enter the building starting at 8:30 (this is for every school day!) Tardy bell is at 8:50am. At that time, you must enter through the office. ![]() First day of Kindergarten is August 27th! Welcome to Franklin, Class of 2032! All Kindergarten families will be sent info about their orientation day on Monday, August 26th to bring your school supplies and meet your teachers! First day of Kindergarten is on Tuesday, August 27th. ![]() New this year - Helping Hands Committee! This committee is designed for people who want to contribute to the overall climate of the school and for those who have limited time but still want to help! Interested in volunteering in your child's classroom? There are opportunities to be a room parent and help plan events throughout the year, as well as be a valuable resource for your chid's teacher! NOTE that you must be a paid PTA member to be able to signup for this volunteer opportunity. Once you're a paid member, you will see a list of all exclusive volunteer opportunities for members under SIGNUPS in Membership Toolkit. Signup for this will open on Tuesday, September 10th at 7am. ![]() Join us for the Back to School Picnic! Volunteers needed We are very excited for our annual Back to School Picnic! Join us on Friday, September 6th from 5-7pm on the Franklin playground. (Rain date is September 13th). Thank you to Shushana Padiak for chairing this event. We are still in need of volunteers to help setup and work the event. If interested, email info@franklinpta.com. Also a great opportunity for high schoolers that need volunteer hours. ![]() Pizza Monday fundraiser store is NOW OPEN! We are excited to have our Pizza Monday fundraiser back for students' lunches. The store is now open to purchase 1, 2, or 3 slices for your students. Pizza is served each Monday throughout the school year. Thank you to Kiddie Kingdom for cooing up the pizza and delivering. You can now purchase your pizza for block one that goes from September 9th - December 16th. ********DEADLINE EXTENDED! All meetings are held in the Franklin PRC and all meeting dates can be found on our PTA Calendar. Everyone is welcome! It's that time of year to start thinking about putting together your child's memories. We are using TreeRing again and they have made some updates for some issues we have had in the past! ![]() Registration is NOW OPEN for chess club! Registration for the lunchtime chess program is underway! The 10-week session takes place on Wednesdays from 11:15-12:10 pm during lunch and runs from 9/18/19 to 11/20/19. The chess program is taught by Chess-Ed instructors and is open to ALL Franklin students, and students of all chess abilities, novice to advanced. ![]() Order hot lunch by Thursday, August 22 for the first week of school You can now order your hot lunch for your students in grades 1st through 5th. Hot lunch is provided by Quest Food Management Services. Everyone should have received an email from Luann Kolstad with details about creating your account on MyMealOrder.com to order your student lunches. The deadline to order lunches for the first week of school is Thursday, August 22nd! NOTE: Pizza Mondays start on September 9th. Students who have ordered pizza must bring a cold lunch the first day of school. ![]() Join our Franklin PTA Facebook group for Members We have a private Facebook group for our Franklin PTA members. This is a great opportunity to get up-to-date information about the PTA, upcoming events and volunteer opportunities, and connect with other PTA members.
