TOP 6 THINGS TO KNOW THIS WEEK: 
  1. It's SPIRIT WEEK! See the dress-up day descriptions below. 
  2. Spiritwear orders going home with students Monday. (Noted gift orders were personally delivered to homes!) 
  3. Holiday sing is this Thursday! See grade times below. 
  4. Tickets now on sale for the 2/21 Sweetheart Dance in the PTA store
  5. Year Book Cover Coloring Contest has begun! Due January 24th in the Franklin office. 
  6. NO SCHOOL December 22 - January 3. School Resumes Monday, January 6th

Enter through the circle drive prior to your child's sing time. Note that we will be starting on time for each grade level and to plan on staying for the full hour during each section so that we're not interrupting the performances. 
Example - if your child is in Kindergarten singing at 9am - the performance will include K & 1st grade and be done at 10am. Those parents can then leave the gym unless their child is in the following performances. Seats are first come first serve. ​

The 2020 Sweetheart Dance will be on Friday, February 21st! Tickets are now available to purchase in the Membership Toolkit Store.

This Friday, December 20th is the last day of school before WINTER BREAK! We hope you all have a fun and safe holiday. NO SCHOOL December 22 - January 3rd. School resumes on Monday, January 6th

This Week at Franklin - December 8th

Each week we will keep families updated on the top things to know each week so you can be informed for what is happening at school and news/updates from the PTA-related activities. 

TOP 6 TO KNOW THIS WEEK:
  1. Last week for Pizza Monday orders for January 13 – June 8. ORDER HERE. Due 12/15.
  2. Holiday Gift Collection for teacher gifts. READ BELOW for details about how to contribute for holiday gifts for your students’ teacher(s).
  3. Spiritwear orders will be in this week! We will deliver to your students' classrooms or we'll notify you of a pickup day & time if you previously requested.
  4. Tickets go on sale for Sweetheart Dance this Friday 12/13 in the PTA store
  5. Yearbook Cover Coloring Contest has begun! Read below for details.
  6. MAP testing is this Tuesday (12/10) and Thursday (12/12). Rest up and eat a great breakfast!

Holiday Gift Collection 
Give to your child’s classroom teacher

Deadline to Contribute to you child’s class gift:  Friday, 12/13/19
The Franklin PTA Head Room Parents are once again coordinating a holiday gift for their class. We do this for two reasons – first, to recognize our teacher’s great work and second, to make your holiday shopping a little simpler.

We are collecting contributions online via the PTA Store on Membership Toolkit. You do not need to be a PTA member to contribute - any family can use the PTA Store. Room Parents will not be sending home a letter asking for cash/check contributions. In recent years, the PTA has moved to an online collection to avoid money getting misplaced by students and to ease the burden we place on teachers. 

Gift Amounts: As always, we are suggesting contributions of $10 per family; however, we would welcome your participation at any level. This year, a few classes have co-teachers. For these classes, families may want to increase their contribution to $10-$20 per family for both teachers.  

The gift will be given to the teacher before the holiday break. Participation is optional.
Once the online collections close on Friday, 12/13, the PTA will inform Head Room Parents how much in total they have to spend on the classroom gift. The PTA will not share how much each family contributed, only the total collected.   Head Room Parents will purchase the gift for the class. Head Room Parents will also be given the parent’s email to communicate to them what was purchased with the money collected. 

If you’d like to give to any additional Franklin staff members, please do so individually. PTA will again be organizing an All Staff gift at the end of the year (May) for Teacher Appreciation Week.

Order pizza now for our second block of 'Pizza Mondays'! Students can start ordering pizza starting Sunday, December 1st through Sunday, December 15th. We will now be offering a gluten free option for an additional cost (please see below for specific details).  


Block pricing for regular pizza:

 Every Monday from January 6, 2020 to  June 8, 2020 (17 pizza days, in total).

Please note: The gluten free pizza would come from Kiddie Kingdom (the same place we get the regular pizza from).  They use a gluten free pie crust, purchased from Rich's Food Service (https://richsfoodservice.com/products/13520/).  The gluten free pizza is cooked on a dedicated tray as opposed to going on the shelf where the gluten pizza is made.  It's important to note that their kitchen is not a dedicated gluten free kitchen, so they can not guarantee no cross contamination will occur, but they do their best to keep it as minimal as possible for kids that have a gluten intolerance or Celiac using the precautions noted above.  The owner would be happy to answer any questions as well via email to help you make a decision that is best for you and your child - Kiddie_Kingdom@comcast.net. ​

BOOK CLUB VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

In order to make Book Club a success, we need volunteer parent leaders! Volunteers lead book discussions with students during lunch hour (11:40-12:40) on Fridays beginning January 10th and ending March 13th. NO teaching experience is necessary - just the desire to share your enthusiasm for reading with others! Parents can lead a class on their own, or partner with another parent to co-lead a group.  Groups are divided by grade. Parents who volunteer are guaranteed a spot for their child in book club!! The more parents that volunteer, the more groups we're able to open up for students to participate. 
 

Sign up to volunteer in the Franklin PTA membership toolkit by December 3rd.  Student sign up will open once parent volunteer signup is complete and we know how many groups we'll have per grade.
