We are excited to announce our 4TH ANNUAL KINDNESS WALK! The Kindness Walk is the PTA’s main fundraiser for the year. It allows us to eliminate smaller fundraisers and offer even more free PTA-sponsored events for all.
And it’s these EXTRAS that help set one school apart from the other. We’re on a mission to make Franklin an EXTRA special learning environment for students, teachers, and administration.

Thanks to the generous donations and participation of caregivers like you, the Kindness Walk has been an amazing success for three years in a row. Raising over $30,000 each year has allowed us to donate new LRC flexible learning furniture, a brand new screen and sound system for the school, fund teacher grants, provide scholarship funds to students in need, and so much more!
KINDNESS MATTERS AT FRANKLIN!
As in years’ past, we partner with Raise Craze -- a program that encourages our kids to thank their donors by “paying it forward” with a random act of kindness. For each donation your child receives, they will perform a simple act of kindness of their choice as a way to BE THANKFUL for the support they receive. This great program allows us to raise money to support our students, and showcase the amazing kindness of our Franklin students!
Last year, students performed more than 1,650 acts of kindness!
That is INCREDIBLE!
During the Kindness Walk on October 11th, students will walk or run laps while parents, teachers and friends cheer them on. Students look forward to this day every year!
WHY PARTICIPATE IN THIS IMPORTANT FUNDRAISER?
So why should you participate? Because the EXTRAS matter. Because being KIND matters. And because this is a great opportunity to reinforce kindness and gratitude while supporting programs not funded by our state or taxes.
Here are just some of the important EXTRAS that the PTA provides for Franklin students:

To all of our Franklin teachers and staff, the PTA is excited to be able to offer you a weekly hot lunch each Monday while the students enjoy their pizza Mondays! Each week you have the option to order a $5 lunch that will be delivered to the office each Monday from Kiddie Kingdom.
All lunches must be ordered by Thursday to be delivered the following Monday. Your lunches start next Monday! So please order your lunch today (Thursday, September 5th!) for next week.
Lunches must be ordered through the PTA website. You can also choose to renew your annual PTA Membership, which is $10 per person. But this is not required to order your lunch each week.

What is the PTA?
We are volunteers dedicated to providing an optimum educational experience in partnership with the parents, staff, and students.
Welcome back to Franklin Elementary and a big Falcon welcome to those first time students and families! On behalf of the PTA Board, we are so excited for another great year at Franklin.
For those of you unfamiliar with our PTA and what we do throughout the year, we invite you to come to our first meeting on Thursday, September 19th at 7pm. We have meetings for the PTA every two months and these meetings give us a chance to talk about what's happening at school, upcoming events and volunteer opportunities, and discuss our fundraising efforts and ways we're able to give back to the school and our students.
And most importantly, we have a lot of fun doing so! Whether you want to volunteer in a big or small way, there are opportunities for everyone. We are fortunate to have some incredible families within our Franklin community and you'll find yourself making many great new friends this year, while giving back to our school.

Everyone needs to create a new PTA Membership account with Membership Toolkit!
We are now using Membership Toolkit as our PTA management system. Here you can pay for your annual membership dues, as well as find details about signing up for volunteer opportunities, event details + calendar, purchase pizza for grades 1st - 5th to have during lunch on Mondays, and purchase items through the PTA store (more to come in the store).

Kindergarten Social on the Franklin Playground - Sunday, August 25
Incoming Kindergarteners and their families, join us on the Franklin playground for a fun playdate to meet your new classmates! Sunday, August 25th from 11am-12pm. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch if you want to stay longer with your friends! Chalk the Walks starts at 1pm.
Chalk the Walks for the first day of School - Sunday, August 25
All Franklin students and families, help spread some positive cheer on our sidewalks on the playground to get us excited for the first day of school! Chalk will be provided. Sunday, August 25th 1-3pm.
First day of School is Monday, August 26th
First day of school for grades 1st through 5th is on Monday, August 26th! You will receive info on what room number your students have to lineup outside on the playground. First bell rings at 8:40 and that is when the students can enter the building! If it is raining, students can enter the building starting at 8:30 (this is for every school day!) Tardy bell is at 8:50am. At that time, you must enter through the office.
First day of Kindergarten is August 27th!
Welcome to Franklin, Class of 2032! All Kindergarten families will be sent info about their orientation day on Monday, August 26th to bring your school supplies and meet your teachers! First day of Kindergarten is on Tuesday, August 27th.
New this year - Helping Hands Committee!
This committee is designed for people who want to contribute to the overall climate of the school and for those who have limited time but still want to help!

Room Parent Signup opens Tuesday, September 10th.
Interested in volunteering in your child's classroom? There are opportunities to be a room parent and help plan events throughout the year, as well as be a valuable resource for your chid's teacher!

Join us for the Back to School Picnic! Volunteers needed
We are very excited for our annual Back to School Picnic! Join us on Friday, September 6th from 5-7pm on the Franklin playground. (Rain date is September 13th).

Pizza Monday fundraiser store is NOW OPEN!
We are excited to have our Pizza Monday fundraiser back for students' lunches. The store is now open to purchase 1, 2, or 3 slices for your students. Pizza is served each Monday throughout the school year. Thank you to Kiddie Kingdom for cooing up the pizza and delivering.

First PTA Meeting of the Year!
We will host our first PTA meeting of the year on Thursday, September 19th. All meetings are held in the Franklin PRC and all meeting dates can be found on our PTA Calendar. Everyone is welcome! We encourage you to come to this first meeting to learn more about the PTA and our school.

Parent Orientation & Curriculum Night is Thursday, September 5th
Parents are welcome to come to Franklin on Thursday, September 5th to meet with their child's teacher during the designated grade level times. This is meant for parents to learn more about the curriculum and get to ask the teacher questions.
Registration is NOW OPEN for chess club!
Registration for the lunchtime chess program is underway! The 10-week session takes place on Wednesdays from 11:15-12:10 pm during lunch and runs from 9/18/19 to 11/20/19. The chess program is taught by Chess-Ed instructors and is open to ALL Franklin students, and students of all chess abilities, novice to advanced.

Order hot lunch by Thursday, August 22 for the first week of school
You can now order your hot lunch for your students in grades 1st through 5th. Hot lunch is provided by Quest Food Management Services. Everyone should have received an email from Luann Kolstad with details about creating your account on MyMealOrder.com to order your student lunches.
The deadline to order lunches for the first week of school is Thursday, August 22nd! NOTE: Pizza Mondays start on September 9th. Students who have ordered pizza must bring a cold lunch the first day of school.
