Welcome Franklin Families! We are so excited about this new 2017-18 school year. We are kicking the year off with a new library (thanks in great part to all your PTA fundraising dollars!), a great staff (with new faces too!), a lunch option every day and a growing student body (533 Franklin students & 5 kindergarten classes – WOW!).

CHESS PROGRAM
Chess-Ed's will continue to provide unique, exciting and fun chess instruction during lunch on Wednesdays. To register for Session 1 (September 20 - November 29) click HERE. Register by September 17th to receive a $20 discount!
CALLING ALL ROOM PARENTS
Would you like to meet and spend time with other parents in your child’s class, organize and facilitate class parties, coordinate money for class gifts, and become more involved in the Franklin community? If so, you can sign up to be a room parent on MySchoolAnywhere today!
We are holding a room parent meeting on Thursday, September 14th at 6pm before the PTA meeting in the LRC to discuss room parent responsibilities/expectations and provide room parents an opportunity to meet each other and start planning. We look forward to seeing you then!

DAILY LUNCH PROGRAM
Don't forget to place your order for hot lunch provided by Quest Food Management Services, Inc. Milk/Water will be available on August 27th and lunch will be available starting September 5th. This program is run by the District, not PTA.
LET ME RUN
We are looking 4/5th grade parents of boys interested in coaching Let Me Run. Coach training is August 27 in Rolling Meadows. Without coaches, this program will not run and it's great for the boys. Please contact Vickie Nelson at vnelson14@aol.com.
CUB SCOUTS
Pack 105 is recruiting boys and Parent Leaders from Kindergarten through Grade 5! If interested, contact John Petrocci, Cub Master: johnpetrocci@gmail.com or call/txt at 630-673-3434 or Scott Koerner, WEBELOS Leader: scottkoerner@gmail.com or call/txt at 708-606-0541. Everyone is welcome regardless of your social or economic back grounds!

Here are a few important things to get started on in MySchoolAnywhere:
- Join PTA! 2017-2018 registration is now OPEN. Benefits include email/newsletter subscription, access to the online directory, voting rights, as well as our private Franklin PTA Facebook group.
- Sign up to volunteer at ANY commitment level. Join a PTA committee. You can go big or small, from work or home. Here is the list of open opportunities, including those coveted room parents positions!
- Pizza Ordering NOW Open! This year, we are excited to expand our pizza offerings and partner with the new District 64 Hot Lunch vendor, Quest. Now included in your pizza order will be a fruit/veggie bar and choice of milk or bottled water. PTA Pizza Mondays will start Monday, 9/11. Click here to order. The ordering window is open until Thursday, 8/31.
Other exciting things to share:
- Check out our Calendar of Events page with all upcoming dates and event information. SAVE THE DATE! The Back-to-School Picnic will be on Friday, 9/8 5:30-7:30pm.
- Weekly PTA Newsletter Every Sunday evening, we will send out an online newsletter to all PTA members as our main form of communication. You want in? Then you need to join the PTA to receive the newsletter and all email notices.
- First PTA meeting & Room Parent Meeting will be Thursday, 9/14. Dr. Heinz, the D64 Superintendent, will be there to give us a District update & answer any questions. It’s a great way to find out more about your school, principal, staff, and details on offerings at Franklin for your children. Babysitter provided in teacher’s lounge
